On December 17, the China Village in the Global Village of Qingdao Binhai University was filled with the fragrance of ink and warm friendship. An international college students calligraphy exchange activity themed "Heart-to-Heart Connection, Bringing 'Fu' Home" was held here. More than 100 participants attended the event, including Liu Zhiming, Director of the Propaganda Department; Xu Zhaojuan, Director of the Student Affairs Department; Qiao Shibao, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department; Gu Yongjing, Curator of the Museum; foreign teacher representatives; nearly 30 international student representatives from Russia, South Korea, Japan, Mali, Yemen and other countries; as well as teachers and students from the Calligraphy Association of Qingdao Binhai University. The activity was hosted by Dr. Wang Shujie from the School of Art and Media.

Co-organized by the Center for International Folk Diplomacy Studies, the School of International Education, the School of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation, and the School of Art and Media, the event was strongly supported by the university's Communist Youth League Committee. With Chinese calligraphy art as the link, it focused on the character "Fu" (blessing), which carries the profound emotions and good wishes of the Chinese people. Through writing stroke by stroke and appreciating the charm of each character, the activity fostered friendship, deepened understanding, and built a bridge of spiritual connection.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Yu, Director of the Center for International Folk Diplomacy Studies, explained the long-standing origin of the "Fu" culture and its rich connotations, including well-being, auspiciousness, and harmony, which are cherished not only by the Chinese nation but also pursued by humanity as a whole. He expressed the hope that Chinese and foreign young people would perceive this cross-border cultural resonance and spiritual sharing through personal experience.

On-site, Yu Zhouchao, a teacher from Qingdao Binhai University and member of the China Gongbi Painting Society, and Zhang Lina, another teacher from the university and member of the China Artists Association, gave explanations on the "Fu" character culture and demonstrated calligraphy writing. Teachers and students from China and abroad picked up brushes in groups, enthusiastically copying and writing the "Fu" character, and decorating their works creatively with gold powder, paper cutting, etc. Chinese and foreign students exchanged carefully prepared multilingual "blessing bookmarks", with the small bookmarks conveying profound blessings. Andrei, a Russian international student, sighed after writing the character himself: "This not only taught me a Chinese character but also made me truly feel the warmth of peace and joy in Chinese culture. This is the most precious 'Fu' (blessing) I have ever received."

The activity included interesting selection and interactive sessions. Teachers and students took group photos with their self-created "Fu" characters and shared the moments of "pasting Fu" through new media, widely spreading the joy and blessings. Multilingual support services were provided on-site to effectively assist international students in immersive experience of the charm of calligraphy and cultural atmosphere.

This activity is a vivid practice of Qingdao Binhai University in promoting the inheritance and innovation of excellent traditional Chinese culture and enhancing people-to-people exchanges between Chinese and foreign youth. Through calligraphy practice and emotional interaction, students from home and abroad not only appreciated the artistic beauty of Chinese calligraphy but also deeply understood the cultural concepts of "harmony and coexistence" and "great harmony under heaven".

In the future, the university will continue to take culture as a medium to carry out diverse exchange activities, cultivate cross-cultural understanding and friendship among the younger generation, let the flowers of cultural exchange take root and bloom, and make positive contributions to promoting people-to-people bonds and advancing mutual learning among civilizations.
