In order to meet the growing demand for Chinese language education professionals in the international community, promote the development of Chinese education worldwide, and support the growth of international Chinese language teaching talents, the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as "Center for Language Education and Cooperation") has established the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship. According to the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship Application Guidelines (2025), Qingdao Binhai University welcomes recommendation institutions to recommend excellent students and in-service Chinese teachers to study and further their education in international Chinese language education and related fields in our university.
I. Eligibility Criteria
1.Non-Chinese nationals;
2.Friendly toward China, with no criminal record, and willing to abide by Chinese laws, regulations, and the university’s rules and policies;
3.Physically and mentally healthy, with outstanding academic and moral conduct;
4.Interested in pursuing a career in Chinese language education and related fields;
5.Age between 18 and 35 years old (based on September 1, 2025); for in-service Chinese teachers, the age limit is extended to 45 years old.

III. Scholarship Coverage
The scholarship includes tuition fees, accommodation fees, a living allowance of 2,500 RMB/month (excluding the four-week research students), and comprehensive medical insurance (third-party liability insurance is required, at a cost of 100 RMB/semester or 200 RMB/year).
IV. Application Deadlines
1.For September enrollment: The student application deadline is May 15, and the deadline for recommendation institutions and receiving institutions to complete the review is May 25;
2.For March 2026 enrollment: The student application deadline is October 31, and the deadline for recommendation institutions and receiving institutions to complete the review is November 10. The Language Center will appoint an expert panel to conduct a centralized review based on HSK and HSKK scores, taking into account factors such as nationality. The scholarship evaluation will be completed approximately three months before enrollment, and the results will be published.
V. Application Process
From February 20, 2025, all applicants should register and log in to the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship application website (http://www.chinese.cn) to submit their applications. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Log in to the scholarship website (http://cis.chinese.cn/account/login), click "Scholarship Application" — check "International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship";
2. Fill in personal information, educational background, work experience, and upload relevant materials, then submit online;
3. Choose "Scholarship Application" — select "One-Semester Research Student" or "One-Year Research Student" — select "Program" — select "Qingdao Binhai University";
4. Monitor the application process, review feedback, and scholarship evaluation results (please keep your phone open and check your email regularly, as Qingdao Binhai University will conduct video interviews).
VI. For In-Service Chinese Teachers and Chinese Bridge Award Winners
1.In-service Chinese teachers applying for various scholarships may submit a work certificate and recommendation letter from their employer. Priority will be given to applicants with these documents.
2.Chinese Bridge award winners who have received the "International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship Certificate" in Chinese Bridge competitions should log in to the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship website and submit their application materials with the scholarship certificate. VII. Application Materials
All materials submitted by applicants should be in Chinese or English and must be scanned and submitted online. (A) General materials required for all applicants:
1.Scanned copy of the passport photo page;
2.Scanned copies of HSK and HSKK score reports (valid for two years);
3.Recommendation letter from the responsible person at the recommending institution. (B) In-service Chinese teachers must provide a work certificate and recommendation letter from their employer.
VIII. Other Information
1.The one-semester and one-year research programs include courses in Chinese language skills, listening, reading, writing, HSK preparation, and Chinese culture. The course load is 20 hours per week, with each semester lasting 15 weeks. Upon completing all courses and meeting graduation requirements, students will receive a transcript and a completion certificate; those who do not pass the course assessments will receive a study certificate indicating the duration of study.
2.In principle, applicants who have received the same scholarship in the past 3 years will not be considered for the one-semester or one-year research programs.
3.Admitted students must enroll according to the time and procedure set by the university. Specific registration times and requirements will be detailed in the admission notice from Qingdao Binhai University.
4.Students who fail to register on time, fail the entrance medical examination, withdraw mid-term, or take a leave of absence will lose their scholarship eligibility.
5.Students who register by the 15th of the month will receive the full monthly living allowance. Students who register after the 15th will receive half of the living allowance for that month.
6.During their study period (excluding winter and summer vacations), scholarship recipients who leave China for more than 15 days for personal reasons will have their living allowance suspended during their absence.
7.If a scholarship recipient takes a leave of absence, withdraws, or is disciplined by the receiving institution, their living allowance will be suspended from the date of the leave, withdrawal, or disciplinary action notification.
8.The living allowance for graduates will be issued up to half a month after the official graduation date set by the university.
