Recently, the Taiwan-based “Industry–Academia AI Problem-Solving Practice Workshop Competition” concluded successfully. Liu Mingkun, an exchange student from Qingdao Binhai University currently studying at I-Shou University in Taiwan, teamed up with fellow participants to win the Outstanding Team Award.
The competition attracted 78 university teams from across Taiwan. After multiple rounds of selection, only 30 teams advanced to the finals, where five Popularity Awards and five Outstanding Team Awards were presented. Liu Mingkun and his teammates stood out with their project titled “Intelligent Market Trend Prediction: An AI Solution for the E-commerce Retail Industry,” earning the Outstanding Team Award along with a prize of NTD 30,000.
The competition was designed with a strong industry-oriented focus, targeting real-world industrial needs. Through in-depth interviews with ten leading enterprises in sectors such as manufacturing, wholesale and retail, and information and communications technology, the organizers accurately identified key pain points in AI applications. Participants were guided to develop AI models addressing practical industry challenges, with the aim of strengthening students’ hands-on skills and enhancing the practical value and applicability of their outcomes.
