On December 17th, the Chinese Pavilion within the Global Village at Qingdao Binhai University was filled with the rich fragrance of ink and a warm, affectionate atmosphere. An international calligraphy exchange activity for university students with the theme of "Connecting Hearts with Brush, Taking 'Fu' Home" was held here. Liu Zhigang, the Director of the University's Propaganda Department; Xu Zhaojuan, the Director of the Student Affairs Office; Qiao Shibao, the Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office; Gu Yongjing, the Curator of the Museum; foreign teacher representatives; nearly 30 student representatives from countries such as Russia, South Korea, Japan, Mali, and Yemen; and over 100 teachers and students from the Calligraphy Association of Qingdao Binhai University, totaling more than 100 participants, attended the event. The activity was hosted by Dr. Wang Shujie from the School of Art and Media.

The event was jointly organized by the Institute of International Folk Diplomacy Studies, the School of International Education, the School of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation, and the School of Art and Media, and received strong support from the University's Youth League Committee. Using Chinese calligraphy art as a link, it focused on the "Fu" character, which carries the profound emotions and beautiful wishes of the Chinese people. Through writing each stroke and reading each rhyme, it wrote friendship, deepened understanding, and built a bridge of spiritual connection.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Zi, the Director of the Institute of International Folk Diplomacy Studies, delivered a speech. He explained the long history of "Fu" culture and expounded on its rich connotations, including the well-being, auspiciousness, and harmony pursued by the Chinese nation and even all of humanity. He hoped that through firsthand experience, young people from home and abroad could perceive this cultural resonance and spiritual sharing that transcends national boundaries.

On site, Yu Zhouchao, a teacher from Qingdao Binhai University and a member of the Chinese Gongbi Painting Society, and Zhang Lina, a teacher from Qingdao Binhai University and a member of the Chinese Artists Association, provided explanations of "Fu" character culture and demonstrated calligraphy writing. The Chinese and foreign teachers and students were divided into groups and picked up their brushes with great enthusiasm to imitate and write the "Fu" character, decorating them with creative elements such as gold powder and paper-cuttings. Chinese and foreign students exchanged carefully prepared multilingual "Fu" character bookmarks. These small bookmarks conveyed heartfelt blessings. Andrei, a Russian international student,感慨 (expressed with emotion) after writing the character himself, "This has not only taught me a Chinese character but also made me truly feel the warmth of peace and joy in Chinese culture. This is the most precious 'Fu' I've ever received."

The event featured interesting evaluation and interactive sessions. Teachers and students took group photos holding the "Fu" characters they had created and shared their "Fu-posting" moments through new media, widely spreading this joy and blessing. On-site multilingual support services were provided, effectively helping international students immerse themselves in the charm of calligraphy and the cultural atmosphere.

This event was a vivid practice of Qingdao Binhai University in promoting the inheritance and innovation of excellent traditional Chinese culture and facilitating cultural exchanges among young people from home and abroad. Through brushwork practice and emotional interaction, Chinese and foreign students not only appreciated the artistic beauty of Chinese calligraphy but also deeply experienced the cultural concepts of "harmonious coexistence" and "a community with a shared future for mankind."

In the future, the university will continue to use culture as a medium, carry out diverse exchange activities, cultivate cross-cultural understanding and friendship among the younger generation, let the flower of cultural exchange take root and sprout, and contribute positive forces to promoting people-to-people connectivity and mutual learning among civilizations.
