On August 27, the National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the evaluation results of the centrally accepted projects for the 2025 funding cycle. Qingdao Binhai University successfully obtained two Young Scientists Fund (Category C) projects, one of which marks the university’s first approval in the medical discipline, representing a historic breakthrough in this field.

The medical project, titled Real-Time Monitoring of Single-Molecule Conductance to Analyze the Dynamic Molecular Mechanism of DNA Polymerase Fidelity, was submitted by Zhao Lihua, a teacher from the School of Medicine. The other project, Study on Interfacial Engineering Design and Synergistic Enhancement Mechanism of Thermal Conductivity and Toughening in Nacre-Inspired Boron Nitride-Based Composites, was submitted by Zhou Shuaishuai, a teacher from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Each project has been granted funding of 300,000 yuan.

In recent years, the university has continuously deepened the reform of its scientific research management system. Through measures such as improving the academic evaluation system, establishing research integrity standards, and setting up special funds, it has stimulated innovation vitality across the institution. Seizing this opportunity, the university will further optimize the allocation of research resources, strengthen the development of young talent echelons, and continuously refine its research cultivation system. It aims to achieve landmark results in more disciplinary fields, contributing significantly to regional economic and social development as well as scientific and technological innovation.
